The Coliseum as is first appears is level to the ground.
As the battle progresses, the structure rises, getting closer and closer to the dying sun above.
Geometric columns rise up variably in the center area of the coliseum, creating obstructions for fighters to hide behind.
Early conceptualization for the coliseum included visually distinct levels or tiers for the characters to progress through.
